Validity of a FOID card in compliance with 430 ILCS 65/3(a-10)

Beginning Jan 1, 2014, a new Illinois law concerning transfer of a firearm between private parties went into effect. Any person who is not a FFL dealer and wishes to transfer / sell a firearm to another person who is not a FFL dealer must contact the Illinois State Police to verify that the buyers FOID card is valid and obtain an approval number. To my knowledge this can only be done via the internet at this ISP website.
